The Children’s Book Council and the National Science Studies Teachers announced the Notable Social Studies Books today!
I’m thrilled that my title, CLIMATE, is both a Notable Social Studies book and a Best STEM Book. This book isn’t about climate change; kids need to know the basics of what is a climate before they can understand the advanced concept of climate change. Studying climate is a part of the science curriculum and impacts social studies curriculums, too.
2026 NSSTA Notable Social Studies Books
As you look at the list of award-winning books, notice that the NSSTA is recognizing that some books cross multiple grade levels. They have a K-2 list, as well as a K-5 list. Or, a grades 3-5 list and a grades 3-8. There are fewer books for the older grades, and multiple titles for the lower grades.
I’m thrilled that CLIMATE is on the K-5 group, suitable for all of elementary school students.
